Narsapura Industrial Area, Kolar – Karnataka.

A small town based in Kolar district of Karnataka state has given its name to drastic growth of industrialization onto its name known as “Narsapura Industrial Area”, situated at a distance of 51Kms from Bangalore city is now called the “Auto Hub of Karnataka”. A platform developed by the Karnataka Industrial Area Development Board (KIADB) a wholly owned infrastructure agency of Karnataka government spread across three phases, covering an approximate land area of 700.75acres in its first phase and has notified 1,480 acre under Section 28(1) of KIADB Act for its second phase.  Industrial Area constitutes multi line access roads, underground cable for power supply and street lights with dual water supply pipeline for potable and tertiary treated water. The existing substation is upgraded to 32 MW for uninterrupted power supply and measures are been taken to construct 220/66/11 KV Sub Station, on addition to this common facilities such as park, buffer zone, parking are also provided. The industrial area is a home to many major and minor industries contributing effectively towards the growth of our country’s GDP.

Narasapura Industrial Area is proximal to the National Highway – 4/75 and is about 15 Km from Kolar city which is also known as the milk and silk city of Karnataka contributing the state and the country through its horticultural, silk & dairy products, the city is also proposed to be a two tier city in order to reduce the load of Bangalore city. Considering the facts industrial area alone has created millions of jobs securing the unemployed population of the district’s educated people who eventually are contributing its district’s growth by securing their livelihood.

Narsapura Industrial Area is one among the district’s and the state’s most successful industrial layout closer to Bangalore city as well as its airport which is at a distance of 32kms from the Narsapura Industrial Area supported by its rail connectivity to Kolar & Mallur which are 15kms away on either side of the industrial area which makes it more accessible in terms managing the supply chain of an industry which remains a backbone towards its growth resulting in attracting major international investors.

Initially Narsapura industrial area grabbed the attention of Honda Motorcycle & Scooters India Private Limited (HMSI) 100% subsidiary company of Honda Motorcycle Company in Japan together with 26 allied suppliers, had invested a cumulative ₹.5,400 crore in the Narasapura plant. The assembly line has a capacity to produce six lakh units per year, taking the total production capacity to 24 lakh units. The new assembly line has provided direct employment to 7,000 people and another 15,000 jobs indirectly.

Further major investors in the locality are Mahindra Aerospace- Manufacturers of aerospace components, Scania Commercial Vehicles India Private Limited- Assembly plant of commercial buses, Apex Auto Limited- Manufacturer of Earthmoving Equipment, Road And Concrete Mixing, Lifting And Handling, Mining And Crushing and Excavator, Wistron Infocomm Manufacturing India limited is the wholly-owned subsidiary of SMS Infocomm Singapore- Assembles Apple’s low-cost iPhone SE model in Narsapura.

Allied suppliers and manufactures to support these industries are backed with major and minor companies such as BANDO, LUMAX, EXEDY CLUTCH INDIA PVT LTD, ADVIK AUTO, BADVE ENGINEERING, ASK AUTOMOTIVE, TS-INTER SEAT, JAYUSHIN LIMITED, INDO AUTOTECH LIMITED, CEREBRA TECHNOLOGIES LIMITED, AISIN AUTOMOTIVE,VARROC POLYMERS  and many more contribution a total investment of more than ₹.45,000 Crores. As reports suggests Narsapura Industrial Area is recommended for Automobile & General Industries there is yet a competition in the pipeline known as INDOSPACE INDUSTRIAL & LOGISTIC PARK- An Industrial & Warehousing park developed by private investors to cater the needs of warehousing and storage into the locality.

Water from bangalore to kolar
KC Valley Project: A controversial project which stayed in the news for some time stating that was supplying dirty water into the tanks of Kolar, to be more precise the water which was supplied into the tanks of Kolar was to improve the groundwater level and not for direct consumption. Though it was treated by the BWSSB Bangalore and then supplied, KC Valley has definitely shown some drastic improvement in rejuvenating lakes, tanks and bore wells of Kolar district. The rejuvenation of lakes attracted much more investors to look towards the industrial areas of Kolar district.

Chennai-Bangalore Expressway: With the need of infrastructure development which has resulted with yet another proposed Chennai-Bangalore Expressway a 262Km long highway project connecting the two cities is estimated to cost ₹. 20,000Crore. Chennai-Bangalore Expressway is a green-field alignment project with a proposed closed toll system. There are two roads that presently connect the capitals of Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. One is through Hoskote surpassing Narsapura Industrial Area creating yet another way for its appealing connectivity from all ends (Bangalore) - AP then to Chennai and the second is through Electronic City (Bangalore) Hosur in Tamil Nadu and then to Chennai. The alignment of the proposed Chennai-Bengaluru expressway will be passing in between these two connecting roads. The processes of getting environment clearances and other pre-construction activities have been initiated and are under progress. The land acquisition for the Chennai-Bengaluru Expressway has been completed.

With people flowing in and out of the industrial area created a demand of hotels, resorts and many eateries in the locality, there are more than 10hotels with good rooms to stay back while work closer to them and also some well-equipped spa resort to cherish their leisure time. 


Some leading brands of resorts and hotels are Golden Amoon-Spa Resort, Kamat Upachar, Best Western Plus, Hotel Gets Grand followed by a few eateries Café Coffee Day, Empire Hotel, R K’s Restaurant and Torino’s Café.


Moving towards residential development in the locality KIADB in addition to the above has developed residential layout in an extent of 16 acres to fulfill the needs of people who remain to stay and also investors in residential sector who are keen to invest and be a part of the industrial area’s growth which certainly creates more opportunities for residential sector’s development.
