Kolar district has become a home to many industries as a part of Karnataka Government’s initiatives which lead to industrialization into the district with the help of its wholly owned infrastructure agency called Karnataka Industrial Area Development Board (KIADB) among which Vemagal Industrial Area situated at Vemagal town of Kolar district cannot avoided as it comprises of major players into the locality.

Vemagal Industrial Area is situated adjacent to Vemagal Town with its main occupation of agricultural produces and minor trading; now it’s known for its industrial area. Located onto the state highway 96 connecting Kolar to Chikkaballapur is spread over 666acres of land in its first phase consisting of multi-lane access roads, underground cable for power supply and street lights with dual water supply pipeline for potable and tertiary treated water. In addition common facilities such as park, buffer zone and parking are also provided.  

Connecting Bangalore to Chennai
Vemagal Industrial Area is well connected to the National Highway- 4/75 about 40Kms from Bangalore City and its airport creates opportunity to remain in the city and monitor the facility at Vemagal. Remaining closer to Bangalore City makes it more accessible for people to commute every day from the city which positively enhances the approach and creates an initial market for its supply chain to begin with.

Vemagal Industrial Area was developed by the KIADB to cater the needs of drastic development of industrialization, prior to this Narasapura Industrial Area was developed which attracted major investors and remained to be the leading industrial belt of the district in order to continue the chain of attracting investors towards Kolar Vemagal Industrial Area was developed which is located 8kms from Narasapura Industrial Area.

Both these two major industrial zones are connected with each other and are moving strongly towards development of the locality.

Vemagal Industrial Area is the base of GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) with its ₹.1000 crore investment GSK has setup its largest tablet manufacturing plant in India. With production capacity of 8million tablets and 1billion capsules in a year the plant is over 50acres of land employing 300 people in operation, GSK did give a good kick start to the industrial area.

As the era of growth began for Vemagal Industrial Area it saw TATA Power Strategic Engineering Division- The greenfield of defence production facility by TATA Power Company Limited with its investment of ₹.450 crore, with the intention to create state-of-the-art integrated digital design to manufacture facility of large systems engineering and integration along with that the division is also the country’s largest  strategic electronic manufacturing unit approved by MSIPS program of MeitY Government of India.



Mitsubishi Elevators India Private Limited- a subsidiary company of Mitsubishi Electric Corporation Japan, is another name of Vemagal Industrial Area’s prominent investors to setup their unit into the industrial area. The company has setup its facility with an investment of ₹.183 crore to manufacture NEXIEZ-Lite brand of elevator with a production capacity of 5000units annually with scope to expand in future.

Vemagal Industrial Area has also turned out to be beneficial to other industries into the locality to name a few Shivam Autotech Limited- Manufactures of auto components involved in production of transmission gears and shafts, Sattava CFS & Logistic Private Limited, HNI Autotech Private Limited, Plasma Gen Bioscience Private Limited, Sterling Tools Limited, Neutral Bio Tech, Bio-Rad Medisys Private Limited, Earth Dreams Agro Industries, Phytotech Extracts Private Limited, Farcom Cable System Private Limited, Micron clean India Private Limited are among the companies to setup its plant and facilities into the locality.

Since Vemagal Industrial Area was setup in the year 2014 there are spaces yet to be covered which paves a way for many more to investors into the locality, Not only the scope of industrialization which has uplifted Vemagal but also the tremendous residential development into the locality which has resulted in grabbing attention of many investors keen into residential investment as the scope of residential sector is yet to determined.




Possibilities in terms of residential growth into the locality cannot be ignored as the industrial area alone contributes employment to 5000people and their stay gives the answer to the growth of these residential estates or layouts, Vemagal Industrial Area is surrounded with residential layouts and the realtors have successfully developed more than 3000Units of residential plots into the locality attracting investors from neighboring cities and states.
